MUSIC COMPOSITION & licensing

In September 2022, Keith Slettedahl and his longtime collaborator Frankie Siragusa launched a creative partnership focused specifically on custom composition and sync licensing for film, television and commercial placement.

Combining Keith’s songwriting and indelible vocal style with Frankie’s versatility as a multi-instrumentalist, arranger, engineer and producer, the pair share a shorthand that empowers them to be prolific and agile working at Siragusa’s LA based recording studio TheLab. Together, they have the ability to craft music based on request, score to picture and much more. In addition to original compositions, both artists have a library of existing cues available for sync licensing.

Songs from the duo’s 2016 Big Sky Blue EP were featured on episodes of Showtime’s long running Shameless. Frankie also produced and recorded two original songs that Keith wrote as promotional content for the downstream releases of Sony Pictures 2019’s Jumanji: The Next Level and 2017’s The Star.

The new endeavor marks a more deliberate foray into creating music specific to visual media for Slettedahl who has frequently had his songs used in this manner. Throughout his career both as lead singer and songwriter for The 88, as a solo artist, and in collaboration with various artistic partners, Keith’s music has been featured in film, television, commercials and more.

The 88’s “At Least It Was Here” which was written for TV’s Community is one of the most iconic theme songs of recent years due in part to the cult-like following of the show’s dedicated fans. In 2011 Keith and The 88 co-scored and recorded three original songs for Jennifer Westfeldt’s film Friends With Kids. The band was also tapped to record songs for Illumination’s animated film The Lorax as well as a cover of Queen’s “A Crazy Little Thing Called Love” for Paramount’s Failure To Launch.
